Beauty and the beast - 2007/03/07 12:24
As a child, Beauty and the Beast (H pentamorfi ke to teras) was my favourite fairy tale (in Greek translation) and always stays with me as an irresistibly romantic and fascinating story! The Frog Prince has a similar theme, and more recently the humorous animated movie Shrek where Fiona's "transformation" after she kisses Shrek playfully reverses the idea of the Beast's transformation in Beauty and the Beast.
Several other movies with Beauty and the beast motifs have been filmed over the years - "Phantom of the opera" and "King Kong" for example which deal with issues of monstrosity and beauty and the potential transformation of one to another, though not necessarily outwardly.
