The very simple bold illustrations all have a black background and, apart from Little Fish who is multicoloured, just one colour is used on each page, so the red crab is resting on red sand and the green turtle is swimming along a green sea bed. There is just a small amount of text on each page, with some repetition allowing children to join in.
