Review: There are 6 popular bedtime nursery rhymes illustrated in this book (Rock-a-bye Baby; Dance to Your Daddy, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star; Silent Night; Mocking Bird and Golden Slumbers). The attached CD contains these and more, all performed in a peaceful and relaxing way. This is sure to appeal widely on the strength of the author's reputation.

The illustrations in the book complement the mood with plenty of pastel colours used, and a cast of characters who are all “cute” animals. Some of the lyric vocabulary incorporates dialect, rather than more widely used alternatives (e.g. Dance to Your Daddy uses “hyem” instead of “home”) which may cause confusion for both parents and older children.

However, this is a peaceful book to be used by parents/carers at bedtime or for calming an overly excited child. The board book format means that a baby can enjoy the feel of the book too, although adults would be advised to remove the CD and store it separately as once removed from it’s space it will not hold there without the use of sticky tape. It would make an ideal present to celebrate the birth of a baby.
