Synopsis: Count the speckled frogs as one by one they hop away, looking for adventure, in this jolly book with a CROAK! sound button to press. The chunky die-cut frogs are perfect for little hands just learning to turn the page.
Review: Five Speckled Frogs is a well constructed board book, with lovely bright bold illustrations. Five colourful frogs happily sit across the front of the book, and the clever cut outs allow one frog to disappear on each page, so five speckled frogs are sitting in the sun on the first page until one hops away, leaving four. One frog leaves on each page, until they all reappear at the end. The illustrations are bright and bold; each frog is a different colour and there are busy insects throughout the book. The sound button makes a realistic croaking sound and is easy for little fingers to press. The text is a series of short rhymes, which tend to be a bit wooden at times. However there is a lot to delight young children in this book, and it certainly provides an enjoyable way to learn to count.
