Review: This book is the third the author has written about Pearce, "a nice enough guy, as long as you don't get on his bad side...he only kills people who deserve it."

I found this book to be violently explicit to the point of disturbance. I felt the plot was unoriginal and the characters lacked depth. It appeared overall to be nothing more than a sequence of shockingly bad language and gratuitous torture scenes. I believe the comedian Billy Connolly once said "swearing is an art form" and it can indeed be used with telling effect in teenage fiction. Not so here unfortunately. Amongst other frequent swear words, the c-word was used on at least three occasions, which I cannot personally ever condone in a book intended for young people. Brutal, lewd and unnecessary.
