The Shadow Garden

If you like traditional ghost stories that raise the hairs on the back of the neck, then this one is for you. Andrew Matthews' The Shadow Garden owes something to the style of M R James classic ghost tales.

We have put together some teaching suggestions which could be incorporated into a unit Narrative Genres in year 6 or  support work on the theme 'Books in their Time' in year 7.

Synopsis: Matty Brand can see the spirits of the dead, and when she moves to Tagram House with her mother, her psychic powers reveal that two murdered children haunt the house. Matty soon becomes involved in untangling the mystery of their deaths, which she knows she must do in order to prevent another murder from being committed.
