A Hole in the Road

Synopsis: There is a hole in the road and it needs a new surface. Follow the drillers, diggers, trucks and workers whose job it is to get the traffic moving smoothly.

Review: This is a wonderful book for those children who are interested in different types of trucks and diggers. how wonderful to be able to answer children's questions about what happens when a road is dug up, from the backhoe loader (ever heard of that?) which helps to dig it up, to the crushed stones and hot asphalt which later fill it in.

The pictures are fabulous, clear paintings of the vehicles which show an ammazing attention to detail and a variety of people with different skin hues. The same attention to detail is shown when we see a little boy and his mother returning from a shopping trip, he is now carrying a toy digger, having previously shown excitement at the road works on their way out.

This is a book which gives just the right amount of information to feed young minds and keep them interested.
