Synopsis: The piebald and the golden palomino, the black, the chestnut, the dun and the grey….Is there anything you’d rather do than sit and simply be with horses.
Review :This is definitely one for the thousands of young horse lovers across the country, whether they actually ride or just dream about doing so. It is an engaging book which starts with a two page spread illustrating different breeds of horses. The book is aimed at the younger horse fan and would be suitable from reception onwards. The illustrations are full of life and yet they also impart a huge amount of basic information about horses; their ways and their treatment. The text is short and in the first person, as if the writer is talking to the reader directly. There is a very short index at the back, but the book will probably suit being told as a story, rather than dipping into for information.
This new edition includes a CD of the story, read by Stephen Tompkinson, a song and a read-a-long version. It is a story which would find a place on the home bookshelf as well as in the classroom.
