What Dino Saw

Jenny finds a big egg-shaped thing down by the river. When she brings it home it hatches- and out pops a baby dinosaur. It's very hungry. Everyone is too busy to look after it and that is where the problems begin. If you have read 'The Lion at School' or 'Not Now Bernard' you will recognise the idea behind this story. It has a clever title and quirky cover illustration, which lets the reader know that the short chapters will be amusing . The line drawings which are liberally integrated  throughout the text )are also funny.

Jenny's dinosaur is very hungry and eats its way through much of the house before heading north.  The dinosaur was a herbivore and friendly but the next one Jenny finds is called Rex and mum and dad do take notice this time.

The text is ideal for newly independent readers. It is one of the Happy Cat First Readers.
