Cathy's Key

It has been six months since Cathy discovered her boyfriend was immortal, three days since someone decided to steal her life and she has one last chance to get it all back...

Cathy’s Key is the sequel to Cathy’s Book. Both books are thrilling, interactive, diary style stories. Cathy has discovered that her boyfriend is immortal and that her life is in danger. She must wok out how to escape from her predicament, rescue her boyfriend and get her life back. Written, partly, in the style of a diary, with interactive elements to engage the reader, such as websites to link up to, phone numbers to call (they have answer phone message on them which can actually be accessed via the website) and clues to follow, this is an imaginative and unique book. There is a pouch of proof attached to the front cover, the contents of which make themselves clear once the reader has delved into the story.

Cathy is a complex character. As an illustrator and cartoonist she spends a considerable amount of time doodling and  her diary  is filled with her doodles, so readers need to pay close attention as they  provide clues and clarification. They also give the story a certain quirkiness and make the reader feel as though they really are reading Cathy’s diary.

Part science fiction, part diary, thriller, adventure, love story and murder mystery this is a unique reading experience that will appeal to an audience of teenagers keen for something new .

I  highly recommend reading the books in order to understand what exactly is happening and who people are for the pace is fast and unrelenting in this second story. Cathy’s Key is a highly imaginative concept, a great story and a moral message about the development of science and the fast pace of change in the world today. There It is well worth considering for a teenage audience wanting something a little out of the ordinary to hook them into books
