Tree Goblins

Synopsis: The land of the goblins is hidden, but not so far away. If you look carefully, you might just find it… Butterfingers and Mildew need to take more care of their egglets! After all, there’s a snootle-pig about…

Review: Part of a successful series of books about goblins, David Melling’s ‘Tree Goblins’ is an imaginative and beautifully illustrated insight into the quirky world of these wood-living creatures. The books would appeal to any child aged 5 and above, especially if read to by a parent, but would also appeal to older children reading alone. The first twenty or so pages is devoted to a detailed background of the life and habits of the goblins but the story could be read on its own. The story has a satisfying resolution and the characters are imaginatively conceived with amusing but apt names, like ‘Two-Conks’ and ‘Drips’. There is also a related website  Great fun!
