Synopsis: Have fun while learning colours -a baby flip-a-face book .
Review: Yellow Red Blue is a board book which allows views of baby faces through cut outs, and focuses on the three colours from the title. The book is lighter then most board books making it easier for babies to hold, but this construction makes the pages thick, and the illustrations around the cut outs tend to look rather like space helmets. The use of the three colours is not always obvious enough for babies and toddlers, for instance, the first page concentrates on the colour blue, but other than the word “blue” only the baby’s eyes and a small patch at the bottom of the page are blue, while the whole of the opposite page is solid yellow. Further through the book we find differently coloured hats, hair and, very oddly, “costumes”. The illustrations are bold and simple, but there is little to talk about on each page, and for a book which helps toddlers learn about colour there is not enough on offer.
