Synopsis: When Badger takes his friends for a ride there are ten on a train. But then one mishap after another leaves an animal behind - nine on a bus, eight on a boat- until only headgehog is left on a pair of rollerskates! Turn the pages and count the animals in this delightful cut-out book.
Review: Ten on a Train is a cleverly constructed counting book with cut-outs which allow us to count the friends on various modes of transport, including a balloon, a go-cart and a hovercraft. There is very little text on each page so the focus stays with counting the number of friends left. Hedgehog is first to arrive at the tea shop and is seen with a very full tummy, waiting to welcome his friends as they arrive on their different forms of transport. Although this is a paperback, it is fairly sturdy and will stand up to little fingers counting the animals. This is a simple but effective story which makes counting fun.
