In Marvin Wanted  More Marvin is not a happy sheep. He is smaller than all the other sheep; he can’t run as fast or jump as high, so he decides to eat! But no matter how much he eats he still wants more. However Marvin goes too far and suddenly drastic action has to be taken.

Joseph Theobald's illustrative style is instantly recognisable. The colour palette is bright, bold and simple. The sheep stand out as balls of white fluff against the glorious green of the meadow and stunning blue of the sky. The  expressions of the sheep add detail to the story. The illustration is minimal but enticing,  making the reader laugh.

 The text is vivid, the font grows where greater emphasis is required and there is a change between full-page pictures and smaller pictures in boxes providing a good variety for the reader.

 One theme of this book is that all actions have a consequence and  that conseuqence may not always be desirable. When Marvin eats too much he is being greedy and soon realises that he has created a very lonely place for himself. The story is ideal for sharing with children who may have experienced the occasional tantrum.
