The Wind Up Tractor Book

Gordon Kerr writing in Publishing News (09/05/08) described the Wind Up Tractor Book as a “mesmerizing blend of play and storytelling”. This book proves that it is possible to be interactive without the need for technology.

Taking stories from the Usborne Farmyard Tales series, the book comes complete with a wind up tractor. It is an interactive book interactive which encourages imagination, reading and playing, wind up the toys, letting them run along the track and making up a  story as they go! There are  three stories, with pop out pieces that can be slotted into their stands and stood on the pages to add an extra element of fun.

The ‘Wind Up Tractor Book’ was nominated for the StoraEnso design award as a result of it innovative approach to storytelling. Although not a winner this is a considerable honour and reflects the importance of such titles.
