Mr Gum and the Power Crystals

Synopsis: Just what is the windmill's terrible secret? Why is Mr Gum lurk-lurk-lurkin' about? And how much does Old Granny know? Gather closer, children, for all shall be revealed...

Review: This book should come with a health warning for all teachers! It is a hilarious tale that can capture even the reluctant boy reader. The skilful use of language and the comic techniques make this a great story to introduce authors use of language. The characters are extreme stereotypes, the sozzled granny, the simpering Polly and the ruthless villain or villains. This is the fourth in a series of books and on the recommendations of my class I shall be reading the rest soon!
