This is a chapter book where each chapter contains a complete short story about Jamie and his soft toy Angus the little Highland Bull. Written in impeccable prose these stories mirror the world of small boys and the way they start to grow up. Each story illustrates a simple tale that all small boys will recognise from daily life. I was particularly taken by Something Different - where Jamie has the difficult task of deciding how to arrange his bookshelf. He asks all the adults how they might do it and eventually decides on a system that depends on whether they are torn, stained, have pages missing or have fingerprints all over them! These delightful simple stories will enchant many children as they start to read, or will make wonderful, comforting bedtime stories. Penny Dale's pencil sketches on all pages enrich the story.
