The Practical Princess

The story is in small chapters with large font and funny line drawings interspersed. It has a lovely funny cover which is likely to appeal to girls aged about 6 years.. The Practical Princess is a story with a moral but lightly done and  it proves a wonderful opportunity for young readers to spot all the other traditional tales that feature princesses.

Molly is a farmer's daughter who hadsalways wanted to be a princess but fails to realise that she is already a princess in the eyes of Stan. When Molly makes it to the final in a competition she begins to to realise that she doesn't like the other entrants, or the prince and that she is missing Stan.

In a lovely twist t(the shoes don't fit this princess) Molly decides to leave and discovers Stan waiting for her. A lovely funny warm hearted story. Highly reccommended.
