Review: Part of a successful series of books about goblins, David Melling’s ‘Tree Goblins’ is an imaginative and beautifully illustrated insight into the quirky world of these wood-living creatures. The books would appeal to any child aged 5 and above, especially if read to by a parent, but would also appeal to older children reading alone. The first twenty or so pages is devoted to a detailed background of the life and habits of the goblins but the story could be read on its own. The story has a satisfying resolution and the characters are imaginatively conceived with amusing but apt names, like ‘Two-Conks’ and ‘Drips’. There is also a related website  Great fun!
