"Soon we were laughing and crying at the same time. That's how it is sometimes. The laughter can be as healing as tears."
Every Wednesday a group of women meet; each has her own share of worries. Cancer survivor Lydia is happy with her life but she’s anxious about her ageing mother and her sister, Margaret, whose daughter has been attacked. Alix's wedding plans have been hijacked by her meddling friends who, to her horror, want the social event of the year. Colette's husband has only been dead a year but she’s pregnant with another man's child. To make matters worse, her lover is her boss! As friendships deepen these women start to confide in each other, but will listening and sharing be enough for them to move forward, leaving their pasts behind?
While you may at first believe this book to be about knitting, it really isn’t. It is simply an enjoyable read which delves into the lives of three girls and their problems, each of which is very easy to relate to. Each character offers something different which makes the novel fresh to read. It’s not a page turner, nor is it a piece of great literary prowess, it’s just a good story about friendships and life’s ups and downs.
