Jack isn’t very impressed when his mother decides they are to spend the summer holidays on a remote island in the Shetlands. Everything changes though when he meets the girl next door along with her menagerie of pets and then an even more unusual stranger emerges from underneath the fridge, which is to change the lives of the two children forever. Jack and Izzie find adventure when a strange tramp is seen lurking on the shore and a mysterious figure is seen waiting on the beach night after night. The adventure provides a catharsis for the secret Jack is hiding away from and allows Izzie’s sense of morality to grow further still.

An exciting tale set in the remote, but beautiful, Shetland Isles which won Tregenza the 2008 Kelpies Prize.
