Robo-Runners: The Tin Man

Meet Crank and Al ... robots on the run. Al is taking Crank to the great recycling plant where old useless robots go in and bright new robots come out. But Crank doesn't want to be recycled.

Review: The characters of this first book in a  new series remind me of a mixture of famous robots including, C3PO, R2D2 and that grumpy one from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The plot is clever with poor Al doing his upmost to carry out his task of recycling Crank but ending up in all sorts of disasters. The Tin Man, reminisciant of the bad guy in a western movie, will not listen to reason and soon Crank and Al are on the run searching for Robotika.

This is a great book for young boys who are just beginning to get into reading, introducing them to a different writing style with enriching language. This series of books is refreshing, as many series designed for younger readers lack originality. An enjoyable read.
