Wow! Said the Owl

Owls are usually asleep all day and awake all night, but this little owl is different, she is curious. She takes a little nap and then, waking up just before dawn says ‘Wow’ for she can’t believe her eyes. The sky is pink, the sun yellow, there are white clouds, green leaves on the tree, orange flowers and much more

This charmingly simple book introduces very young children to a world of colour. Nature is often taken for granted; introducing it in conjunction with colour is a fabulous concept for a story. The language is simple and minimal as one expects from a picturebook. Repetitive phrases help children learn, the bright and stunning pictures encourage one to feel the little owl’s awe and promote recognition as well as memorable associations. Tim Hopgood provides the reader with a fascinating insight into an owl’s world, colour, nature and language in this beautiful and simple story.
