Please Don't Torment Tootsie

This is a book with a message –a message that urges young children to be kind to our furry (or scaled, in some circumstances) friends. Described as a ‘cautionary tale’, it insists, quite rightly, that, as fascinating as they are, animals are not there to be tormented, prodded or poked.

Rhythmic, alliterative language and occasional rhyme supplements lively, bright illustrations ensuring that it is a book that can enjoyed in its own right as well as a useful tool to encourage children to appreciate its message. However, the lack of storyline or consistent characters means that it is unlikely to become a well-read favourite.
