Thunder the White Horse

{Mosimage} For Martha there is something strange and almost magical about a white horse, even an old one like Thunder.

Ursula Dubosarsky's fictionalised account of a real horse who lived opposite a primary school is very moving. In an easy to read style she examines the children's love for a crotchety old animal. Martha dreams of an idealised white horse and, along with her classmates, is devastated when Thunder dies. The words are complemented by the detailed black and white drawings. An excellent early reader, particularly for the horse mad!
