Ten in the Bed

Synopsis: There are ten in the bed, and the little one just wants to go to sleep! But as the other animals get more and more playful they start falling out, until there is only one left...so will the little one ever get his sleep?

Review: This is a brightly illustrated version of the popular nursery rhyme, with a slight variation. Each page has a different theme; when the ten are all nicely tucked up in bed the ‘snorer’ falls out, while on the following page nine greedy animals are enjoying cakes until the cook falls out. The eight friends are bouncing on the next page and the trumpeter falls out. The bed is a castle on one page, a pirate ship on another and even becomes an aeroplane. Finally all the characters enjoy a dance until they settle down under a starry sky.

Lovely to read as a rhyme, but children will also enjoy spotting the animals dressed as different characters. The book is also a fun introduction to basic numeracy.
