Zoo Faces: A Book of Masks

Synopsis:This is an iBaby book that has been created with parents, carers, educators and child development experts in mind. It is one of a new series of books that have been designed to work and grow with babies at their own natural pace.

Review: The book is intended to provide an opportunity for adults and babies or toddlers to spend time playing and learning together - it fulfills a very important role in the development, nurturing and bonding relationship. This board book is  a perfect resource for parents to read to their babies and also to use as a toy.

Zoo Faces has one animal eye hole in its cover, which when the book is opened cleverly creates two eye holes for each of the animals described within - cheetah, zebra, hippo, penguin, monkey and lion. Each double page shows primarily the face of the animal in full colour. The pages are eye catching and the text perfect for reading aloud. Textually the book is short yet highly descriptive and also rhyming creating a beautifully sing-song style. Each animal is succinctly described, and if using the book with a toddler, a game could be played whereby the child is tested to guess what the animal being described is. They could be asked to point out the distinguishing features of each animal, describe a time when they have seen one of these animals. The adults could use the book as a mask whilst describing the animal they are imitating.

Zoo Faces is a wonderfully versatile book which is at once hardwearing and highly usable. It is also excellent for reading out-loud to babies or using for games with toddlers.
