Synopsis: Part of a series published by A & C Black entitled White Wolves that provides readers, from year 3 to Year 6, specifically designed for guided reading. Each teacher manual outlines three individual plays, which have been produced as handy books. The lessons have been written by Karina law, a former teacher, who is now literacy consultant and editor. The teacher manual includes: advice and tips on conducting guided reading lessons, summaries of each of the three books, five guided reading lessons plus corresponding worksheets to be used as and when the class timetable permits, features on the authors with suggestions for further reading.
Review: Matched to the literacy strategy these resources would be very useful in the classroom and could also be adapted to meet the requirements of the new primary framework core learning for drama. The photocopiable worksheets are brilliant for encouraging the children to engage with and respond to the texts. In my opinion, it is an excellent all round resource. The only down side is the expense of buying more than one copy of the White Wolves story plays – you would need at least six copies at £4.99 each. I would prefer to have the actual plays as a photocopiable resource for use within the classroom.
