A Handful of Horrid Henry

Synopsis:Introducing Horrid Henry - everyone's favourite bad boy! Three hilarious CDs in one case

Review: A colourful case of three CDs each with four short stories about Horrid Henry's misadventures. These stories are read very effectively by Miranda Richardson and lively music and sound effects have been added. I found they often made me laugh out loud and I was hooked to see what Horrid Henery would do next.

For those who have not come across Francesca Simon's Horrid Henry books.  they tell the story of a boy who just can't behave himself and is generally quite harmelessly horrid! His brother however is the most  perfectly behaved child ever and is therefore known as Perfect Peter. As the stories unfold you find yourself ever sympathetic with Henry and more and more infuriated with the Perfectness of Perfect Peter. I especially liked the episode where Henry decides to be Perfect for the day but Mum and Dad still keep blaming him because they are so used to him being horrid.

The CDs included in the set are 'Horrid Henry', 'Horrid Henry and the Secret Club' and 'Horrid Henry tricks the Tooth Fairy' each CD has a blurb of its own describing the four short stories that it includes and the time for each track is also given clearly which would be helpful for classroom use.

The total running time of all three CDs is 3 hours. This audiobook would be suitable for a wide range of ages from 3 years upwards indeed I have known 11 year olds who have very much enjoyed reading the books in this series.
