Horrid Henry and the Abominable Snowman

I’m sure that for all the Horrid Henry fans out there, this is another Horrid Henry book that they’ll read over and over again. For those readers who like me, have only just been introduced to Horrid Henry, this book may have been the first – but will definitely not be the last.

Horrid Henry and the Abominable Snowman is actually a collection of four short and very manageable stories perfect for young readers just setting out on their own. In this collection we see much of Horrid Henry’s competitive streak in a snowman competition and again when he tries to outdo Moody Margaret with some wacky makeovers. Horrid Henry’s take on wills is also highly entertaining. Francesca Simon is able to portray a perfectly horrid character and yet have the reader sympathise with him in the hope that he will one day realise why his ideas always lead him into trouble.

Horrid Henry and the Abominable Snowman is winner of the 2008 WH Smith’s Children’s Book of the Year.
