Bread and Pizza is an exciting new recipe book for children, designed to inject passion into bread making! Each recipe has a double page spread and range from soda bread to cottage loaf, fruit buns to calzone.
Full step by step numbered instructions, coloured pictures and varied font ensure that this book is accessible for all levels of cooking ability. A glossary and equipment list is included, and additional facts about the history, culture or science of the recipes ensure that children are learning whilst cooking, a nice touch which tries to bring a dash of originality to this style of book. Although it is a shame the facts are a little basic, and could have been presented in a more interesting way than just a square box. Perhaps presenting the information within the shape of the bread it is talking about might have been more creative and engaging for the child reader.
An ideal gift for budding cooks, especially children who are ready for more challenging cooking and eager to experiment with bread making. KS2 teachers may find this a useful resource for exploring breads within other cultures. Recommended.
