Learn about unusual and inspiring crafts from around the world in Toy and Models! An excellent new book for children, parents and teachers!
Six original toys and models are presented across double page spreads, with step by step instructions, full colour pictures and facts. Example ideas range from a moving wooden cowboy from Mexico, a carved wooden car from India, a painted leather tiger shadow puppet from China, to a jumping cat from Austria.
The projects are original and inspiring, but do require some prior practical knowledge or parental help for some children. It is an ideal resource for KS2 and KS3 design and technology teachers, as some of the projects are ideal for short term schemes of work, one off lesson projects, or as stimulus for adapting ideas for more complex toys and models. Although there is some basic information about each toy and model, the text could have benefited from a bit more history and culture behind each design.
An ideal gift for children who are confident in craft making, and a recommended teaching resource.
