My Brother’s Famous Bottom goes Camping

Synopsis: Nicholas and his family are off on holiday. Dad’s bought a tent on wheels and Granny’s looking after the goat. The family should have a whole week of fun, except Nicholas’s  sister has packed her carrot dolly and his brother wants to take his pet chicken. So there’s bound to be trouble!

Review: Nicholas is excited. Dad has bought a camper van to take the whole family camping. They need a rest after the local fox nearly ate all their chickens. The van has a stove, a shower, a toilet and everything. Nicholas’ sister, Tomato, has packed her carrot doll, Cecily Sprout. So his bother Cheese (the one with the famous bottom) wants to bring his pet chicken, Poop. Granny wants to come too, with boyfriend Lancelot, but they’ve got to stay home and look after the goat.

Arriving at the camp site, the family discovers that Cheese has managed to smuggle Poop the chicken on holiday after all. Trouble starts when Granny turns up with Rubbish the goat and the whole family is sent home in disgrace. They arrive back just in time to catch a burglar trying to break into the house of Mr Tugg next door.

Fans of Jeremy Strong will love this hilarious story about Nicholas and his alternative camping trip. The jokes and slapstick slide effortlessly off every page. This is a great book to read aloud to young children. It will also spur young readers to want to read for themselves.
