Synopsis: Bentley is a bear who loves to smash and bash and crash! “Gently Bentley,” call his best friends, Squeaky and Bun . . . Perhaps bears are just too rough to play with?
Review: Bentley can’t seem to get the hang of playing gently, and in his frustration, he uses the phrase “blow it,” which some might find offensive. Regardless, even though Squeaky and Bun encourage Bentley to play gently, they learn that sometimes playing rough can be fun too. Everybody wins in this neatly illustrated tale, with text that is cleverly laid out to enhance the drama of the story. Bentley is endearing, and it’s nice to have a story that sends the message that friendships can endure the rough times as well as the gentle ones.
