Something Wickedly Weird. The Darkling Curse

Synopsis: This is the fourth in the darkly humorous series from award-winning illustrator Chris Mould. The island of Crampton Rock has emerged from pirate battle. But something far more sinister is on the move ...

Review: This is an easy read with short chapters, relatively large print, fantastic illustrations and an enticing cover making it an attractive book, particularly for boys. It also has the added advantage of getting young readers interested in a series, indeed book 2 of the series is on the booklist for the Boys into Books 5-11 project. The story is half spooky, half funny. Think Adam's family, hidden tunnels, sinister black circling birds and you have it. An enjoyable independent read for young readers 8 years and upwards.
