The Kraken Snores

Synopsis- a sea monsters snoring threatens to sink Britain. Can William and Zeus wake the kraken beore the land sinks into the sea?

Review - William Popidopolis is a small boy - tasked with waking the terrifying Kraken to save his country from sinking into the sea when the kraken starts to snore. Thank goodness he has the help of his old friend Zeus (disguised as a bald swan)and some amazing magical mythical characters too. William's adventures take him from home to Mount Olympus to his Dad's taverna in Greece all in search of a means to keep the Kraken awake.

This story moves along at a fast pace as we experience the frustration and doubts William experiences on his way to save Britain from sinking. He is remarkably brave, and is helped and hindered by many characters from mythology along the way. A fascinating way to experience greek mythology at a young age. Although this is a straightforward read and very accessible it's length, at 150 pages, may require well developed reading stamina to get to the end. I would have loved more of Ross Collins' humourous illustrations.
