The Cat Who Liked the Rain

Lukas recieves the most precious birthday present ever - a little black kitten he calls 'Night'. When Night disappears, Lukas is desperate, and searches everywhere. Has his little cat really gone out to see the world? A wise, gentle and moving story from the bestselling and prize-winning author, Henning Mankell.

Review: A charming story about the journey of Lukas as he comes to terms with the disappearance of his little cat 'Night' whom he loves. The book is divided into short chapters, easy to handle for the young independent reader. There are some lovely line drawings to complement the story and the Swedish family setting is original and provides some interesting details without being the main focus of the tale. The themes of a child dealing with sadness, the love of a pet, and the imagination of the main character Lukas make this a lovely story.
