Cock-a-doodle Boo!

Get ready for some pop-up surprises on Sleepydale farm! Sunrise is the busiest time of day for Ronnie Rooster, he has to wake everyone up in time for breakfast, but how does he do it? Ronnie Rooster lives on Sleepydale farm and it is his job to wake up all the animals each morning in time for breakfast, but how does he do it? He sneaks up on each of the animals in turn and gives them a wake up call that they are certain to remember. As he startles each of the animals in turn they literally leap off the pages. Will the children be startled too or will they enjoy turning the pages of this vibrant picture book to find put what Ronnie Rooster is up to next?

This is a bright and very vibrant picture book. The illustration is simple and minimal along with the text. Pictures are big and bold but it is the pop-up creations that dominate. First there is a very startled hen followed by a shocked cow and even a bumblebee. Children can try and spot Ronnie sneaking up on the other animals and guess what will happen next. They can identify different elements in each of the pictures such as the rolling fields and bright blue sky, the flowers in the meadow and the hay in the barn. They will begin to learn about the animals that live on a farm as well as other elements of the countryside all around us that we aren’t always able to see.

This is an educational, fun and interactive book that will draw children in from the front cover and keep them entertained right until the end, it is simple enough to read to young toddler and contains enough text for brave young readers to attempt alone. ‘Cock-a-doddle Boo’ is a great book for sharing and enjoying with your children.
