Synopsis: Seven short stories linked by the scary voice of Captain Night-Night Porter, the custodian of the deep sunk ship where all naughty people end their days!
Review: This book will appeal to all who love to be scared and enjoy the disgusting. Jamie Rix has taken stories of everyday naughty, thoughtless children and devised the most fiendish punishments that mean that all his characters meet their just deserts in the most disgusting and horrifying way possible. The child who never tidies up, and regularly takes things apart for fun, ends up as a flat pack child - reduced to his componemt parts and left in a box as no one has the inclination to put him back together. The girl who cheats at musical statues is reduced to a stone gargoyle and her brother, who never did wrong in the first place, becomes the apple of his parents eye. The adults are not blameless in all this mayhem, but they are usually helpless against the treachery of their naughty children. Many children will get a great dela of laughter and enjoyment from all this mysery and earthy humour. I even learned new words for passing wind.... The liberal scattering throughout the book of comments, ink blots and small gruesome illustrations from the Captain add to the general air of grubby humour and grim fun.
