Jack is a very quiet boy but his busy, rumbustious family is very noisy!Sometimes it feels as if nobody is listening to him. Jack lives on a farm with his parents, grandparents and his siblings. They are all so noisy, including the animals, that Jack feels that no one is interested in what he has to say.Whatever Jack says his family responds with an answer that has nothing to do with what he has said: "I want to go to the mountain." Jack takes Chester, his faithful toy, and heads for the top of the mountain. When he reaches the top he yells:" Can anybody hear me?" he is answered with silence. In the mountains Jack and Chester play together and meet wild animals. Using his voice he calls a mother wolf and frightens away a bear. But night falls and as Jack calls for his family he wonders if they will ever hear him...
This picturebook is beautifully illustrated and enables the reader to enjoy the charming relationship between Jack and Chester. A delightful story about learning how to make yourself heard, that every young child will identify with. A book that will be enjoyed by all young children and the adults that share it with them.
