Longfang: Dragon Orb

{Mosimage} Kira and her dusk dragon, Longfang, must find the third orb in order to save the Oracle, leader of all dragonkind. Following a path that is beset with dangers and traps designed to maim and kill the riders and their dragons must reach the twilight world of the Castle of Shadows. Kira knows enough to be anxious and worried about what this orb will demand.

For anyone unfamiliar with the Dragon Orb stories there are four dragon riders on a mission to save their world. To do so they have been sent on a great quest to recover four globes. This is the third title in the series and therefore focuses on the search for the third orb. The story begins when only two weeks have passed since the quest began so it is, as you can imagine, set at a fast pace and the reader must keep on top of all the action. Robson does provide flashbacks to help the reader remember the intricacies of the adventure so far but quickly moves into the current story.

This story is a well-written, convincing, tense adventure story that will take the reader on a gripping ride through terrifying ordeals, into the minds of fighters and dragons on a quest to save the world. It has the essential elements of a great fantasy story - it is well written and has a good story line. Readers new to the series will not be disappointed and are likely to find that they go back to the first titles to follow the adventure through from its inception. Beautiful imagery contrasts with harsh reality, imagination with pure fantasy. A great read for fantasy, dragon and adventure fans, this is a gripping and exciting story quest.
