Synopsis: Tiger the kitten likes the look of the snow, but on-one else wants to go out into the cold and play, that is until the fun starts, then they can’t get enough!
Review: Tiger the kitten has lots of friends to play with, on a usual day. However the snow has changed it into an unusual day and none of Tiger’s friends want to go out and play today. Tiger feels sad and is about to go home when something buried under the snow catches his eye - he doesn’t know what the strange objact s but he knows exactly what he wants it to be! Tiger makes a slegde out of the strange object and off he goes, woosh, down the hill! Soon all his friends have to join in and by the end of their ride they all want to go again!
In the midst of the journey the ride becomes breathtaking and the pages of the book fold out to allow the text to continue in an unbroken sentence - a very clever technique. With lovely pictures, full of expression and a very simple text evocative of the movement and sensation of flying down a hillside in the snow this is a wonderful story for a cold winter’s day. It is warm and loving, a story of fun and friends.
An ideal book to share with a class of young children at story time - encourage them to join in with the wooshes or to give to a newly independent reader for a gentle and easy read.
