Synopsis: Marie is fed up of the monsters that pester her every night so fed up that she decides to take matters into her own hands and she comes up with a brilliant plan to be free of them. However the brilliant plan, although successful for Marie results in chaos elsewhere. How will Marie be able to keep everyone happy?
Review: This is a wonderfully child friendly aproach to a very scary topic - the mosters that come out and frighten children once the lights are out and they are safely tucked up in bed. Marie is scared of these monsters and she is fed up with them. Her attitdue is refreshing and resourceful and should amuse, whilst giving hope to children who are scared of the night-time monsters. The story is funny, friendly and approachable. The language is simple and the pictures are bright and colourful. Marie’s solution to the monsters is to cut the moon from the sky and hang it in her bedroom - after all the monsters are afraid of the light.
However, outside all is in darkness and chaos reigns, the cats can no longer see and have lots of accidents, the rats come out of their sewers and cause havoc. As a result the king of the cats visits Marie to see if they can find a solution to the problem, when they do it is a solution that pleases all the characters - except of course the monsters!
This is a charming story, amusing, approachable and helpful for dispelling the fears of small children.
