War Horse charges on!
Following two sold-out seasons at the National Theatre, War Horse will move across to the New London Theatre, Drury Lane, from 31st March 2009, with performances running all the way through to 26th September. Click here for performance times and booking information.
The stage adaptation of Michael's moving and powerful story of survival on the Western Front hit number one in The Observer newspaper's top ten theatre performances earlier this year. The production, in which
actors bring elaborate life-sized puppets to life, (picture left by Simon Annand) was described by The Observer's Susannah Clapp as "an unforgettable stage ballad . . . setting the beautiful, expressive puppets of the Handspring company galloping to the accompaniment of accordion and song." War Horse was also been awarded the best design prize in the Evening Standard Theatre Awards.
"Horses whinny, flex, canter and display all the characteristics of the real thing," wrote Theatre Buff's Katie Spain. "Not since Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake have I seen such complete immersion into a species’ mannerisms. Man and machine blend perfectly."
Stephan de Pasquale, rédacteur en chef du service culture de RTL et spécialiste de la littérature de jeunesse, a interviewé Michael Morpurgo à l’occasion de la sortie de son dernier roman, Seul sur la mer immense.
