Read to Inspire is an annual conference seriesfor students in Initial Teacher Training which is sponsored by children's book publishers. The project seeks to promote contemporary children's books, to support the role of authors in education and to generate enthusiasm for reading amongst new teachers.

  In 2009 - 2010 we are running over 40 events. Themes include:

War and Peace in Children's Books

Boys do Read: reflections on gender and reading

In the Picture: picturebooks and visual literacy

Bringing the Past to Life

Classics for the Twenty-first Century

Reaching Readers Other Books Cannot Reach - comabaing the myth of the reluctant reader

Connecting Cultures: children's books for a culturally diverse society
