Oliver Jeffers' Lost and Found has won the 2006 Blue Peter Award. The announcement was made on a BBC1 Book Award special programme. Sue Buswell, Publishing Director for Picture Books said 'This award means so much, not least because it was chosen by children, but also due to the significance of a picture book winning overall which will, we hope, signal a resurgance of truly great books in this genre and the emergence of real talent.'
Lost and Found has already received critical acclaim and was the winner of the Nestle Children's Book Gold Award 2005.
Australian born Jeffers graduated fromt he University of Ulster in 2001. He has since exhibitied his art in london, New York, Sydney, Belfast and Glengormley.
Jeffers first book How to Catch a Star was published in 2004. His most recent picturebook The Incredible Book Eating Boy is recently published and will feature on Richard and Judy's Christmas books special. Jeffers is the official illustrator for World Book Day 2006.
