Brian Wildsmith was born in 1930 into a working class family and brought up in mining village of Penistone, near Sheffield. He was gifted in music and art, and won a scholarship to the Slade School of Fine Art. In the 1960s Brian was at the forefront of children's book illustration.
Now for the first time in Britain an exhibition of Brian Wildsmith's art will be on show at the Illustration Cupboard Gallery in London from 13 March to 5 April. Brian will be in the UK and at the Illustration Cupboard Gallery on Wednesday 19th March at 2pm. This showcase exhibition will feature original work and editions produced, signed and numbered by Brian Wildsmith. Artwork will include book work but also independent paintings never before seen outside Brian Wildsmith Museum of Art in Japan. Not to be missed.
