Ben Cort admires his pants Simon and Schuster threw a party to celebrate the publication of Dinosuars Love Underpants. Sarah McIntyre attended for Write Away and sent this reportPants certainly played their part in the launch party for Dinosaurs Love Underpants by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort. Painted paper pants hung on a washline, little pants adorned the canapés. Even the Union Club's moose head got into the swing of things and wore pants on its antlers. Simon & Schuster publisher, Ingrid Selberg ,gave a brief speech, thanking Cort and Freedman for their hard work and celebrating the excellent sales of Aliens Love Underpants which sold 225,000 copies in its first year. She said that 'Dinosaurs' is on its way to being a similar success, having sold 55,000 copies in its first week of publication; these sales have made the books the number one and two best-selling picture books in the UK. Selberg ended her talk saying, 'The Gruffalo better hold on to his underpants because we're giving him a run for his money.' If you have enjoyed either of these books with your class, in the library or with children at home, leave a comment and tell us about it.
Claire Freedman unfortunately was unable to attend the event due to illness, but Ben Cort happily signed copies of a special print of one of his dinosaurs.
