The Birthday Book, edited by Michael Morpurgo and Quentin Blake, is shaping up to be one of the most prestigious and anticipated releases this Autumn. Produced in aid of The Prince’s Foundation for Children & the Arts, the book celebrates The Prince of Wales’s 60th birthday and will help raise money for the work the Foundation does to provide access to the arts for children who would otherwise not have the opportunity.
The Birthday Book sees over 50 of the finest authors and illustrators from the book world contributing extracts from favourite titles, poems and new stories, together with new illustrations for this sumptuous gift book. Contributors Philip Pullman, Kevin Crossley-Holland, Dame Jacqueline Wilson and J.K. Rowling, with new pieces from authors including Eoin Colfer, Anthony Horowitz and Eleanor Updale. The stories, poems and letters are illustrated by the crème de la crème of contemporary illustrators including Axel Scheffler, Posy Simmonds, Emily Gravett and of course Quentin Blake. Well-known names signed up to write introductions to classic extracts includie author Kate Mosse, comedian Victoria Wood, author/comedian Charlie Higson and TV survival star Bear Grylls. The Birthday Book will be published by Jonathan Cape on 6th November, £16.99.
