Report by Rebecca Berry  Louise Rennison Crowned After months of nominations and over eleven thousand votes from young girls across the world, the winner of Queen of Teen 2008 was finally announced during a glamorous awards ceremony at Catteshall Manor in Godalming, Surrey. The shortlisted authors arrived in style in Pink Limousines, to a very pink party, together with one of their fans, who later climbed up on stage to sing their praises before Louise Rennison, author of the hilarious Georgia Nicolson series was finally crowned Queen of Teen, saying “The whole thing’s been gorgeous. I’ve never won anything – I was never even a school prefect. I’ve got a crown and a throne: how could it be more perfect? I’m not normally speechless, as my mother will tell you – but I am speechless today!” The Queen of Teen Award was designed as a celebration of the extraordinary female writers that write for girls and the passion they inspire. The nominations received were extremely heartfelt, describing the impact that their favourite author has had on their lives. Sophie Mackenzie and Fiona Dunbar were present to open the gold envelope and reveal the winner.
